Welcome to V&T Enterprises, specializing in restoration and reproduction in the field of early American steam locomotive engineering drawings, including rolling stock and, more recently, early 20th-century railroad art. Services are primarily research-based and computer-implemented for fabrication specification.

V&T Enterprises was instrumental in restoring the historic Virginia and Truckee locomotive Reno following the disastrous fire at Old Tucson Studios in 1995, in which this artifact was heavily damaged. Thanks largely to the ongoing restoration of the original 1871 erection drawings of this locomotive, all of the original components lost in the fire could be restored according to as-built factory specifications. The restored engine appeared in the 1999 Wild Wild West movie.

V&T Enterprises also initiated the research and digital reproduction of the Central Pacific RR Subsistence Car, which accompanied the Directors Car (V&T Coach No. 17) during the inauguration of the first transcontinental railroad. In collaboration with the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, V&T Enterprises conducted research and prepared a historically accurate analysis report detailing the Subsistence Car for possible future use as an interpretive model.

V&T Enterprises has been involved with the engineering documentation and restoration of North Western Pacific Caboose No. 6101 through the Society for the Preservation of Carter Railroad Resources (SPCRR) at Ardenwood Historic Farm, Fremont, CA. This work is currently ongoing.

More recently, V&T Enterprises has been creating high-precision laser-cut metal artwork based on the California Zephyr passenger train jointly operated by the Western Pacific, Denver and Rio Grande Western, and Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy railroads between 1949 and 1970. The tricolor artwork of the Golden Gate Bridge appears on the tail sign of the observation vista dome cars and is reproduced in available color combinations of brushed copper, steel, brass, and bronze. More information is available under the “California Zephyr” tab in the menu above.

In summary, V&T Enterprises offers professional digital research and restoration services and now high-precision metal artwork. An extensive selection of engineering drawings, along with artwork from the California Zephyr, are all available for purchase through his website.
